@jgmac1106 In digging a half-step further, I realize they actually put a content warning on a "Welcome" post to incoming users!

Wow!

@vlucas Here's an article I wrote a year ago that outlines a version of a reader that's somewhat similar to @aaronpk's and discusses a tiny bit of what commercial ones have that approach the functionality. We have a long way to go still.

@mattmaldre I do remember playing around just for fun, but ultimately it was (Just Another Web Presence I Don't Need)

@paxtonjohn I hope you didn't think I was still using Digg Reader. ;) I think @feedly is excellent and @inoreader is awesome too, particularly with OPML subscription functionality. But I'm looking for even more: http://boffosocko.com/2017/06/09/how-feed-readers-can-grow-market-share-and-take-over-social-media/

@feedly @edwk Probably better that I help you all out with some needed functionality first. Try this out: http://boffosocko.com/2017/06/09/how-feed-readers-can-grow-market-share-and-take-over-social-media/
You should keep your eyes glued to the evolving spec as well. !

@Dries How awesome would it be if I could use @buffer not only to post to social media, but to post to my own website using the Micropub spec? https://www.w3.org/TR/micropub/

@indiescripter Like most things social, I've been on @MastodonProject for over a year: https://mastodon.social/@chrisaldrich (Coincidentally, I posted something to their github repo just a few minutes ago.)

I occasionally syndicate content there, though I have yet to begin backfeeding interactions. I suspect something big will be on the horizon for doing so in the coming months however.

Some of my thoughts and what I've read over the last year on the topic can be found here: http://boffosocko.com/?s=mastodon.

@MorrisPelzel What happens when you take that "just another account" philosophy to it's logical conclusion?
http://boffosocko.com/2016/10/17/how-many-social-media-related-accounts-can-one-person-have-on-the-web/

@mrkrndvs on your Social links page, it looks like you've listed your mastodon account twice and your Huffduffer account has a wonky URL.

@cleverdevil This is almost exactly what I was hoping for (and more) when I wrote "Feed reader revolution" over the summer

@edsu @Joseph_Koivisto @westgardja @katedohe I suspect that you could use a Homebrew Website Club to do much of what you're contemplating and there's no reason that Institutions and their social presences shouldn't be a part of the bigger discussion as well.

Just a week or so ago, there was some excellent discussion on the IW chat that related to your idea that I thought was so interesting that I bookmarked it. You can read the conversation here, https://chat.indieweb.org/2017-11-17#t1510953115033000

In particular Barnaby's quote and Tantek's extension may be the germ of the idea for what you replace social media with in your analogy: https://waterpigs.co.uk/notes/1480/

@jackysee Typically I use a WordPress plugin called Social Network Auto Poster, but the bridgy plugin is pretty solid as well.

This looks like an interesting experiment. Curious to see how something like this might be implemented in a social feed reader. https://twitter.com/EthanZ/status/931230918274179073?s=09
