@Janowski I believe @manton2 is letting in a few hundred people a day and has been upping the numbers lately. Sadly I'm out of invite codes at the moment, but it shouldn't be hard to get in soon.

Replied to a post on github.com :

The original 2016 theme doesn't use Excerpt the way that most themes do. Instead it bootstraps that field and uses it as a "kicker" as it's known in the magazine trade or more commonly as a sub-title under the_title.

This can cause some quirky output behaviour as a result when using this theme the same way most themes use the excerpt. It also means you can't use the excerpt for things like bridgy publish easily.

@kevinmarks That. Is. Awesome!

Ha gRegor! Very funny!

Oddly my install doesn't know how to process wementions to that particular (pseudo or archive) URL, so I didn't get the webmention somehow (or it's hiding really well). Perhaps better to have used a homepage wm instead? I only saw this ultimately as the result of your wiki edit. I still laughed out loud though.

The sad part is that Patreon is able to act as a bank of sorts on behalf of thousands of creators so that patrons can donate to several dozen causes and reduce the transaction fees overall by bundling them into single transactions rather than dozens of transactions with higher fees. It helps to overcome the problem of micropayments in a sense.

I saw your note about taking payments directly and I'm considering switching over to that, though It may be easier to do either quarterly or annual payments so that you get a larger chunk of the payment compared to smaller ones on a per episode basis.

In addition to the payment side, you may have noticed that I "fixed" the support announcement side: http://boffosocko.com/2017/12/22/a-supporting-page/ This reminds me that I still ought to reset my iTunes password (which I never use) to log in and send you a positive review there. If only iTunes would support webmention so you could own your reviews...

Only a noob question because you asked it via a Known site! ;)

But it is a good one. Child themes only really need two files: the style.css and a functions.php. In the style.css file there's a block of text at the top with details about the theme. One of the lines has the name "Template" and its value is the case-sensitive name of the parent theme's folder in your /wp-content/themes folder. Thus to have your child theme pointing at the correct parent, you'll want to modify this "Template" line appropriately.

FYI: If it helps, Smashing Magazine has a pretty thorough article on WordPress Child Themes and what they're doing and how: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2016/01/create-customize-wordpress-child-theme/

@cleverdevil You do know that the Space Shuttle Endeavor is just 2.8 miles from your office @casciencecenter in downtown LA right?! ;)

@CancerConnector It would be nicer if it were mobile friendly...

@steveivy @sivy@toot.cafe By the way, if this webmention works, you'll probably want to update your now outdated Comments footer...

@steveivy It's amazing how things can change in 10 years isn't it. Congratulations on 10 years of !
Three cheers for the open web.

@martijnvdven I've already got something impossible enough slated for 01-01-18! ;)
