Jonathan, perfect, the new version fixes the issues with the content showing on the permalink.

The separate, but somewhat related issue is that the post interface still shows all of the UI for syndicating to all of the options (facebook, twitter, WordPress, Tumblr, LinkedIn, etc.), yet choosing those options doesn't actually syndicate the content. (Typically I wouldn't POSSE these post types anywhere anyway, but other users may expect this piece to work if it's shown.) I know some post types in Known hide the syndication targets when they're not supported (ie, only audio related posts can be syndicated to soundcloud), but I'm not sure how these are done.

Interestingly, when editing these types of posts, the syndication targets (correctly) aren't shown in the editable version.

@aegibson73 Maybe if you used Known to syndicate to Twitter and Friendica? Then you'd use Known more often AND own all the content too.

After more than 2 years, I finally got my first spam comment on Known. Otherwise, it's been rock solid. @WithKnown +

@jeremycherfas +1 for bookmarks!
Another thing to test is if one can @reply using Known and maintain threading. I wonder if this works?

New silo: pnut.io · Issue #736 · snarfed/bridgy https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy/issues/736

@dg01d has created a [Known plugin](https://github.com/dg01d/KnownPnut) to POSSE to [pnut.io](https://pnut.io/), a small Twitter-like social networking silo. Pnut was created in some sense to replace App.net which recently shut down.

He and @jeremycherfas were chatting on https://chat.indieweb.org/known/2017-03-22#bottom about possibly adding backfeed to Brid.gy for pnut.io. I'm creating this issue as a stub for potential future work, along with the ever-requisite addendum:

@EatPodcast Is the king of multi-site! (Known x2, WordPress x3+, Grav, others??) @raretrack For me, the key is having a mechanism(s) for keeping/saving as much of the data for yourself *somewhere*, then you can figure out how and where to migrate it to at a later date if necessary. As Jeremy can attest though, data migration is its own special pleasure...

@raretrack Be sure to file the bug at https://github.com/idno/Known/issues. If you're hosting it yourself, it may be easier just to back up the entire database rather than manually exporting.

Glad to hear you're getting plugins to work. Which version are you using at present 0.9.2?

The reason you don't often hear the word boffo in every day language is that it is part of a sub-lexicon known as slanguage deriving from the Hollywood trade newspaper Variety. It's most common usage is in headlines of this particular journal and rarely is it found anywhere else--including in the articles of the journal. It's probably not a coincidence that it was picked up and used by Trader Joe's whose headquarters is not that far from Hollywood in California.

Jeremy, no worries, it's not openly transparent unless you look at the html source of the page directly. WordPress has a nifty feature that if you add an .mp3 URL to the text field, it will automatically format it as a player (much like embedding a youtube video), in my case I used an <audio> element wrapped around a .mp3 URL which creates a slightly different player (based on the web browser implementation of the spec) with somewhat different functionality.

As for replying to multiple sites at once on Known, on a "reply" post you'll have one URL in a field by itself, then you can click on the "Reply to a site" link under the "New Status Update" box to add another box, and so on. Thus, this particular post will send three replies. One to your response about the media player, one to your question about multiple replies, and a third which I'm sending to my original post which preceded your reply, so that it contains a full chain of the replies. There's also a "Remove URL" link in case you add too many--I don't think the post will publish if you have empty reply fields.

If you look on the wiki, there's a thing called salmentions (salmon+webmention) which programatically checks all the replies to replies and syndicates one's response everywhere so that all the posts in a chain of conversation get webmentions to have a complete record of a conversation. Few sites do this yet in practice, but if you're diligent on Known, you can effect salmentions manually.

Does this help? http://stream.boffosocko.com/2017/adding-a-photo-to-a-known-post

It would be nice if Known had a media interface like WordPress or other CMSs, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Adding a photo to a Known "Post"

1 min read

Known has several post types, each of which is good for particular content types. Sadly, one can't add photos to statuses or replies, though one could accomplish much the same thing with a photo post type.

In a "Post" type, one may need to switch from the plain text editor to the rich text editor to be able to insert a photo by clicking on the photo icon in the toolbar which only appears on the rich text editor. A modal window will then open up that will allow you to upload a photo and add metadata about it prior to inserting it into your post.

Tip: selecting the image in the post and re-clicking on the photo icon will allow you to edit the image source, description, and dimensions.
