@edheil It creates a 1 to 1 correspondence between the post on your site & your post on Twitter to make it easier for Bridgy to match and sending responses. It also makes it easier to delete copies in the future because you'll know where else on the web you've posted things.

Settings at /wp-admin/admin.php?page=syndication_links will let you set syndication targets so you can use a simple checkbox for cross posting. I particularly love that it dovetails with https://quill.p3k.io/ if you use that with Micropub for posting short notes to your website.

@andrea It looks like you're missing the Semantic Linkbacks plugin for WordPress. That should make your facepiles have actual faces and display much better. https://github.com/pfefferle/wordpress-semantic-linkbacks

How are you posting to Known? Using Quill or another micropub application? Do you have the WithKnown Twitter plugin installed? https://github.com/idno/Twitter That can help some of the display issues you're probably seeing.

I'm sure many in the IndieWeb chat (Slack, IRC, Web, etc.) can give you help if you need it. There's a main room, and and specific channels. https://indieweb.org/discuss

I'm out at the moment but am happy to help more later if you need it.

Testing out posting from Quill for Jeremy Cherfas

Replied to a post on github.com :

I tried the change of URL and attempted to post again with quill.
It made it a bit further and returned the following URL
http://c.micro.blog/2017/05/18/test-from-quill.html
but it was a 404 nginx page with no content and the post didn't go through...

I haven't done it yet, and it'll probably take a bit of set up, but you could use https://silo.pub/ in combination with quill as a micropub client to pull off a syndication workflow.

Enjoying using Quill to post to my Known site. Thanks for the continual improvements Aaron!<p> </p>

Aaron Parecki's Day 17: Documentation for Quill

If you do a google search for bookmarklet and Quill you'll find some javascript stuff for making posting a tad easier with it, though I haven't set them up yet myself.

Speaking of something to steal, you might appreciate this post with regard to setting up Known for your mobile phone: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/sharing-from-the-indieweb-on-mobile-android-with-apps-and

@lindner Congratulations!

For extending things a bit, be sure to check out: http://docs.withknown.com/en/latest/plugins/community/ so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

One of the things that made using my Known site much more addictive was being able to do so more easily on mobile. I wrote up a few thoughts here that you might appreciate: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/sharing-from-the-indieweb-on-mobile-android-with-apps-and

If you don't like the writing interface you might consider using Quill https://quill.p3k.io/ which uses micropub (already included in the core of Known). Micropub is now a W3C candidate as of yesterday. Alternate posting clients may be found at https://indieweb.org/micropub#Clients. In particular you might like OwnYourGram or OwnYourCheckin for Instagram and Foursquare if you use those.

You'll find lots of fellow devs and users of Known at https://indieweb.org/Known

Good luck and let us know if you need help!

Support Featured Image (and other common WordPress functionality) · Issue #24 · snarfed/wordpress-micropub https://github.com/snarfed/wordpress-micropub/issues/24

I'm not sure if it's something that would fit in here or quite how -- perhaps a setting toggle?, but for clients that push photos (OwnYourGram.com, https://ownyourcheckin.wirres.net/, Quill, et al), it would be nice on WordPress (especially for many modern themes) to have the (primary) photo from the client post as a "Featured Image" rather than in the main body of the post.

Other potential settings-based functionalities I can imagine being useful (based on experience with Twitter clients) include
* being able to set future posting times
* saving posts as draft, private, pending, etc. rather than automatically publishing
* allowing one to set Post Format (or if using the IndieWeb Post Kinds plugin: Post Kind)
Naturally supporting some of this would also depend on the posting client having support for these options as well.

@kraftbj already responded, but for completeness: also suggested here: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/this-is-hopefully-a-simple-but-useful-feature-requesti-appreciate
(This also relates to jetpack_allow_per_post_subscriptions for email and alternate posting methods to WP including via email and [micropub](https://github.com/snarfed/wordpress-micropub) with clients like [Quill](https://quill.p3k.io/)

Glad to know that JetPack is on GitHub :)
