That last sentence defining the blockchain is fantastic.

If you hadn't heard of it yet, I attended a conference last year at UCLA entitled Dodging the Memory Hole, which I suspect is right up your alley. I know they're gearing up for another installment later this year at the Internet Archive in San Francisco. I suspect you'll find lots of friends there, and they're still accepting talks. https://www.rjionline.org/events/dodging-the-memory-hole-2017

Did @ifttt really turn off @twitter recipe that allowed one to add twits to a list automatically? http://boffosocko.com/2016/10/12/twitter-list-for-dtmh2016-participants-dodging-the-memory-hole-2016-saving-online-news

Replied to a post on github.com :

I can't see a reason it wouldn't be a good idea to do so. Perhaps if it's not a valid Twitter name, it gets wrapped in slighly different code and/or CSS, to indicate it won't resolve to an actual link?

For getting more value in following/interacting with colleagues on Twitter, particularly in relation to conference/topic hashtags, I recommend setting up an IFTTT.com "filter" to add people who tweet about a particular topic(s) to a Twitter list. This can save a LOT of time hunting, searching, and doing this by hand. Details and an example of this can be found at "Some thoughts on creating conference lists, live tweeting and archiving events" [http://boffosocko.com/2016/10/12/twitter-list-for-dtmh2016-participants-dodging-the-memory-hole-2016-saving-online-news/ ]

Thanks Glenn, I also use OneTab religiously, but even temporarily bookmarking them into OneTab is part of the problem. I want to get rid of the memory of them altogether so I don't feel like I have to go back to them mentally. I do like that OneTab puts them to sleep so they're not using up resources in the background.

My new favorite conference tip is to take the Twitter hashtag for the conference and create an IFTTT.com applet to make a Twitter list of everyone talking about the conference on Twitter. It's best to do as soon as you know what the conference hashtag is, but works even a day or two before. Then you'll have a live growing list of everyone who tweeted about the conference which is useful both during the conference as well as keeping up with people after the fact. More details at: <a href="http://boffosocko.com/2016/10/12/twitter-list-for-dtmh2016-participants-dodging-the-memory-hole-2016-saving-online-news/">Twitter List for Participants | Dodging the Memory Hole 2016: Saving Online News</a>.

Update: Twitter List for went from about 30 just before the conference to 158 just two weeks later. http://boffosocko.com/2016/10/12/twitter-list-for-dtmh2016-participants-dodging-the-memory-hole-2016-saving-online-news

@TMWestervelt If you want, I think I may have gotten the audio from that section at http://boffosocko.com/2016/10/13/notes-from-day-1-of-dodging-the-memory-hole-saving-online-news-thursday-october-13-2016/ JDNA may also have video too.

@jeherve, It would appear that that patch seems to take care of the issue. I ran a few quick tests on some variations on the settings and didn't see the offending sharedaddy div appear after the patch was applied.
Compare: http://boffosocko.com/2016/07/19/the-memory-palace-of-matteo-ricci/ and http://chrisaldrich.tumblr.com/post/147683457752/the-memory-palace-of-matteo-ricci

I'll test a few additional things over the next few days (I recall another social platform acting somewhat like Tumblr had, but don't recall which at the moment), but otherwise this seems to fix things.

@dshanske Perhaps these same types of checks (or the patch code mentioned) could serve as a template to prevent the similar issue within Syndication Links which shows "Syndicated to" on several platforms including Tumblr and Facebook. I'll open an issue there as a reminder.
