It seems like a good day to highlight this short video presentation I made last year at an academic conference and posted to my own website:
"A Twitter of Our Own" https://boffosocko.com/2021/04/26/a-twitter-of-our-own-at-oerxdomains-2021-conference/

@jatenas I had the same issue initially and eventually got in, though not sure how. @JimGroom has indicated: "Pro tip: If anyone gets the ALT profile page when clicking watch for a session, trying refreshing that page, it should push you to the video player."

@mdrockwell You can get feeds of YouTube channels using this simple conversion: `https://www.youtube.com/channel/ID → https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=ID`. Alas, they don't add the video as an enclosure, so it won't have the video. You might try an RSS Bridge instance for pulling video though: https://github.com/RSS-Bridge/rss-bridge/wiki/Public-hosts

@joealexlemon Great meeting you yesterday @InnovatPasadena. The ideas in your video dovetail quite well with the tenets of the . I bet you'll appreciate https://indieweb.org/podcast.

@reclaimvideo Can I apply for a video rental card from LA? I'd use it as a second form of ID to go with my Ralph's card.

@floatingtim @ltaub If you're free to join us for this online video chat tonight, please do.

@jernst I suspect(?) you know a bit more of what is happening functionally, but you're probably right that more of this could be better documented. I'll circle around shortly to try to help improve it, but in the erstwhile I've written some separate documentation on my own site about it along with some examples: http://boffosocko.com/2017/08/11/post-kinds-plugin-for-wordpress/

I've also got a video walk through on my to do list as well.

Today's afternoon sessions for IndieWebCamp Baltimore are posted! Links for video feeds coming

I'd been looking for something like this for a long time too.

For the past couple of months, I've been using an IFTTT recipe that takes anything I watch on YouTube, which I designate essentially with their thumbs up, and it creates a draft post on my site.
https://ifttt.com/applets/46019464d-if-new-liked-video-then-create-a-post-on-your-wordpress-blog

Some things I keep privately while others get posted publicly. You could write most of the format of your "like" within the IFTTT interface, including the u-like-of.

For a while I've been using the Post Kinds Plugin to parse the URL and pull in the meta-data as well as wrapping it with the u-like-of. Despite being more of a PESOS workflow, it's pretty quick and simple. Here's a recent "watch" post: http://boffosocko.com/2017/11/06/dont-worry-be-happy-by-bobby-mcferrin/ Though you could easily change the "Watch" metadata to a "Like" without a lot of work.

Post Kinds Plugin is theme-able so you can modify things to display the way you'd like, though I generally find the default is pretty solid.

Alternately, Post Kinds also allows you to create a bookmarklet that imports the URL directly to quickly create a post (of almost any type). I've detailed how to do it here: https://boffosocko.com/2017/08/11/post-kinds-plugin-for-wordpress/#Bookmarklet+Configuration

@realkimhansen @jimpick If you missed the livestream earlier, the full video from this morning is up now.

⚖️ Wait? What!? Video of the entire gavel-to-gavel coverage of the The Watergate Hearings is available online?!
There goes all the free time I was planning for the holidays...

@khurtwilliams A bunch of us are working on making it all easier in steps, but we're also doing it on a volunteer basis. Some of the key is knowing what it all comprises from a top-down perspective, then knowing what each of the individual pieces are and how they work. Nearly every week there's something new and cool. The key is to figure out which things you find the most useful and valuable and work on those one at a time.

It's a LOT easier now that it was even 8 months ago and will be measurably easier as time goes by. I'm currently writing a book on how to do it all at the level of "IndieWeb with WordPress for Dummies". Ideally it'll be as easy to do as signing up for a Twitter or Facebook account and just going, but we're not quite there yet, but it's getting easier to do the set up without knowing a lot of (or any) code. Hoping into the chat, going to a Homebrew Website Club or IndieWebCamp can be immeasurably helpful as well.

Again, if you want to do a quick conference call/video chat, I'm happy to help you out.

The sound of your original post and the reply are making me think that you're manually opening up your site in a browser, clicking on the "Status Update" piece of the UI, then manually clicking on the "Reply to a site" button, and then manually cutting and pasting the URL in for replies every time. Does this mean you're not using the browser bookmarklet to generate all of your responses?!!

If this is the case, then hie thee to https://stream.jeremycherfas.net/account/settings/tools/ and drag the bookmarklet button (which likely has your name on it) to your browser bar! Then when you're on a web page you'd like to respond to, click on the bookmarklet to pull up a slightly more sophisticated UI (pictured in link) that will allow you to share, reply, bookmark, RSVP, like, and repost as you prefer (depending on your plugin collection). When you choose the "reply" tab, the UI should have the "reply to a site" URL pre-filled for your convenience! Type your reply, choose syndication destinations, and click "publish".

In some sense this will make your replies only replies, your status updates only updates, and your posts articles that can only mention other articles (unless you manually do what I'd done before). In the initial case I outlined above, you're manually creating statuses which technically get turned into replies by manually adding the reply URL. The difference can be seen in visiting/comparing the URLs http://stream.jeremycherfas.net/content/statusupdates/ and http://stream.jeremycherfas.net/content/replies/.

I pray that you've known this all along, you'll forgive my "indiesplain", and that I'm not catching the subtlety of your original post. The Known bookmarklet is 90% of the beauty of the system and drastically cuts back on the manual 'til it hurts portion of the program. And of course if it doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll make a video of the process or we can do a screen share if necessary. I'm addicted to bookmarklets of all kinds, but realize that not everyone uses them the way (or to the extreme) that I do.

If not, I'm not sure I fully understand your original issue or why you'd want to create a new post (with a title) to do replies to others' content, and I'll have to revisit the issue you're having.
