Sent from my self-hosted version of Known.

Because you're on Known, you're definitely sending webmentions (presuming you're using the default set up), but it may be the case that gRegorLove isn't accepting them, or it's possible that he's moderating them too (which several definitely do). [According to https://indieweb.org/webmention, he's both sending and receiving.] Not everyone in IndieWeb necessarily accepts webmentions (yet). You could ask him in the IRC, or alternately ping him via @mention in Twitter as he often syndicates his content there as well to check.

If you do a google search for bookmarklet and Quill you'll find some javascript stuff for making posting a tad easier with it, though I haven't set them up yet myself.

Speaking of something to steal, you might appreciate this post with regard to setting up Known for your mobile phone: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/sharing-from-the-indieweb-on-mobile-android-with-apps-and

I tried the same post and didn't run into the same issue:
http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/liked-felix-schwenzels-emotionalit%C3%A4t-leichtigkeit-unabh%C3%A4ngigkeit-6d8e31d6d5

Though I also tried liking your original post @danito and got this:
http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/liked-daniel-nixs-daniel-nix-felix-schwenzels-emotionalit%C3%A4t-leichtigkeit-unabh%C3%A4ngigkeit
The post includes the extraneous metadata "Daniel Nixpublished this 26 Oct 2016 0 stars 0 comments" in the title, rather than just the original title. Perhaps you've got some code misplaced that's causing both issues for you?

I've run into the original problem a few times in the past, but it's typically been the target site having issues with http/https or security settings that don't allow the plugin to scrape the page properly. It's been relatively rare and I haven't run across it in a while.

If I recall, the locations module had a (similar?) issue a while back that didn't fail gracefully when the system didn't return a location properly and it just hung. It was changed to allow it to fail and let the user enter/cut&paste the data manually. Depending on the root cause of the problem, perhaps this could be a solution? Is it even showing you the URL field before you approve the post? Could you enter it manually?

@rikmendes I'm not sure what you mean about Twitter URLs, though If I use it to "like" a tweet, I get something like this: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/liked-weaverbots-tweet-e29c8c3952 and Known sends the "like" intent to Twitter and revisiting the tweet shows my "heart" properly as I'd expect it. From a UI perspective, it would be nice if Known and KnownReactions would actually save a blockquoted version of the tweet so I was saving the data of the post I was liking (particularly for short content like tweets), though saving the data for longer blog posts/articles, this isn't necessarily the best thing and a link to the original is fine.

Jeremy, it's not exactly a mobile bookmarklet, but perhaps you can co-opt the sharing function on mobile with something like URL Forwarder in the Google Play store the way I did for mobile use with Known [http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/sharing-from-the-indieweb-on-mobile-android-with-apps-and ]? It'll let you strip out a URL and other data to share to Huffduffer or other apps. It's also available on GitHub [https://github.com/daverix/urlforwarder ] if you want to roll your own.

Congrats Mathias!
The indiewebber in me can't help but wrongly translate the French (seeing cœur instead) as:
"Testing Known with heart @unixcornproject!"

@lindner Congratulations!

For extending things a bit, be sure to check out: http://docs.withknown.com/en/latest/plugins/community/ so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

One of the things that made using my Known site much more addictive was being able to do so more easily on mobile. I wrote up a few thoughts here that you might appreciate: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/sharing-from-the-indieweb-on-mobile-android-with-apps-and

If you don't like the writing interface you might consider using Quill https://quill.p3k.io/ which uses micropub (already included in the core of Known). Micropub is now a W3C candidate as of yesterday. Alternate posting clients may be found at https://indieweb.org/micropub#Clients. In particular you might like OwnYourGram or OwnYourCheckin for Instagram and Foursquare if you use those.

You'll find lots of fellow devs and users of Known at https://indieweb.org/Known

Good luck and let us know if you need help!

@CaptainKurtis Saw your Known ?, not sure if you saw reply: Do you mean /account/notifications or maybe /account/settings/notifications/

My answer to "What is your review of LiveJournal? - Quora"

It’s definitely not a good platform from an IndieWeb (http://IndieWeb.org) perspective. The details on the wiki entry at Indieweb pretty much say it all from a flexibility and long term perspective: LiveJournal - IndieWeb (https://indieweb.org/livejournal). You’d be better off with your own personal site and then cross-publishing to LiveJournal if you have a particular audience there that you want to reach and it’s worth spending the money.

If you’re choosing a platform, perhaps take a look at projects (https://indieweb.org/projects). For beginners looking for something simple and inexpensive as well as easy to maintain, I’d recommend WordPress.org (http://WordPress.org) or Known (http://WithKnown.com). These will be better at allowing you to own your own domain and own your own data while still offering a large number of more modern blogging/web features.

Replied to a post on github.com :

I've run into Known's naming convention issues with contributed plugins several times. Experience always tells me to rename, but it would be nice if it threw an error.

Nope, Twitter links work like they should (as do most others I've run across on https).

I do remember @petermolnar having a possibly related issue back in March. It had something to do with his server supporting SSLv3. See also:

and if necessary https://github.com/kylewm/KnownReactions/issues/8

sslv3 handshake failure · Issue #16 · kylewm/KnownReactions https://github.com/kylewm/KnownReactions/issues/16

## While trying to do this:
Like a [post ](http://www.rmendes.net/2016/notifications-slavery-versus-attention-ecology) on @rikmendes Known site

## I encountered this error:
![rmendes handshake](https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/5882943/17157663/b0f8e482-5345-11e6-8534-ae40888d54c7.PNG)

## Some other notes:
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is being caused by Rick having recently switched to httpS on his site, but just in case.... I'll ping him separately to see if he knows something on his end.

I like that even with the SSL failure that the plugin gives a description field to fill in manually.

Like you, I usually don't worry too much about SEO either, particularly for my personal site.

The IndieWeb community has recently been moving domains from IndieWebCamp.com to IndieWeb.org, so there have been some relatively big changes there which have thrown some functionality off. In particular, one used to be able to jump into the chat directly from the web-based chat logs, but that has been turned off (temporarily, I hope). If you don't want to set up an IRC client [details and suggestions are given at https://indieweb.org/IRC], you can also use the more friendly Slack channel as well since the IRC chat is bridged to Slack. Just click on the link on the IRC page to sign up. (I've never been a big IRC fan either, and the fewer chat clients, text messengers, etc. I can have, all the better!)

If you've managed to get WordPress installed, then you've already done the lion's share of the hard work! Most of the rest of "IndieWeb-ification" is done with simple plugins and minimal amounts of configuration. There shouldn't be anything too much more difficult (unless you want to get your hands dirty and do some hardcore coding.)

My main www.boffosocko.com site is a WordPress install, which I usually use for longer form (more interesting??) posts. stream.boffosocko.com is more quick hit content: status updates, checkins, and some photos. I also find it's a bit easier to use on my cell phone than WordPress is. It's built on the Known platform which was built from the ground up in part to support IndieWeb protocols.

If you'd like to join a small group of us in Pasadena on Wednesday night, I'm walking a few new people through some IndieWeb stuff: https://indieweb.org/events/2016-07-27-homebrew-website-club (Facebook copy at https://www.facebook.com/events/1176904038997597/). We can help you walk through the process on your site if you'd like.

I hope to have monthly meetings through the end of the year in the LA area, and there's a bigger IndieWebCamp in Santa Monica in November (https://indieweb.org/2016/LA)
