I can now update Tumblr from my Known Account!
[Edit: At least I thought I could, but something is apparently amiss...]

I went from a marathon bingewatch of Season 7 of The Good Wife into Season 3 of The Newsroom.

I thought I recognized the slightest resemblance between characters "Nancy Crozier," who incidentally stole every episode she appeared in, and "Hallie Shea" who reminded me of another actress Jocelyn Ranne. I suppose I'm not too surprised at all that both talented actresses are sisters, though not related to the latter.

Can't wait to delve back into Mr. Robot which also stars Grace Gummer. Sadly it'll take longer for them to make new material than it will take me to manage to watch it all. Wish I had known of them when I was at CAA years ago...

From an indieweb perspective, it's probably far easier, more productive, and better interface hypothes.is both accepted the webmention protocol as well as sending webmentions. This way one could post their comments (highlights may be slightly tougher) directly to their Known (or other site) and the webmention protocol could handle the posting to hypothes.is. Similarly when one annotates a page, hypothes.is could webmention the page, so the post author/site admin would be aware that the page was marked up.

@RikMende There's now a WordPress plugin for my WP install. You'd have to do it manually for Known at present.

Issue un-authenticating while moving from one site to another · Issue #29 · aaronpk/OwnYourGram https://github.com/aaronpk/OwnYourGram/issues/29

I was moving my Instagram posting target from a WordPress install to a Known install.

For my WP install, on IG I revoked access from OYG and then reauthenticated for my Known site at http://stream.boffosocko.com. However, I'm still getting micropub posts to the WP install at www.boffosocko.com. (Note that I would like to keep both sites listed in my Instagram profile/bio, if that makes a difference.)

Is there something else I need to do to deactivate ownyourgram from publishing to my WordPress install?

Is it possible that OwnYourGram holds the same authentication for two separate sites using the same Instagram account? This could mean that one would need an "off" switch through the ownyourgram interface to deauthorize one site. It could also separately be the case that Instagram didn't flush a cache which allowed my last IG post to the WP site to slip through.

After playing around with some settings and doing some uninstall/reinstall work, I have an even stronger suspicion that this is a chrome mobile specific issue.

Uninstalling updates and reverting back to the factory installed version allows Known to ask for permission to use location and then finds the location properly. Updating thereafter to the most recent version of chrome mobile then prevents Known from finding my location (and it doesn't ask for permission to use location either.)

Two other mobile browsers don't seem to have any issues.

Andreas, I'm pretty sure my experiment with OwnYourGram was well after I updated to 0.9.2. I never worked on it further to get brid.gy to push the comments/likes back to my Known install, but did spend some time to get OwnYourGram to work with WordPress and eventually have brid.gy backfeed the comments/likes from Instagram.

Ultimately I decided for data portability reasons that it was far easier (and prettier) to import all of my old instagram posts into my WordPress install where I know the code base a bit better. I just finished importing all of my instagram activity to my main site over the weekend, but it'll take some more work to get them to display the way I want them to along with the correct microformats2 markup.

For Instagram/Known, if I recall, you have to correctly specify either http or https properly to make sure the two link up properly, which was an early problem I had. I also had issues with trying to use two sites simultaneously, but apparently putting the URLS of your sites into your bio on instagram works just fine for authentication.

I don't think I went so far as to register my instagram account for known with brid.gy, but I could dig back into it if you need some help. I need to document some of the process for some user manual work I've promised to do for Known.

You could also try the IRC channel: https://indiewebcamp.com/IRC

@Petersell I'm only doing POSSE for Medium on WordPress where I tend to post my longer content. I'm primarily using Known for shorter content, checkins, and mobile use. I imagine that you could POSSE from Known to Medium by hand, but it would be hacky at best.

So it sounds like you really want is the https://wordpress.org/plugins/syndication-links/ which will give you a field under your content to show where the content was syndicated to (and properly mark the links up with rel-me).

I don't think brid.gy automatically puts the syndicated link into the field, so you'd have to do it manually. Other plugins like Social Network Auto Poster (SNAP) or using micropub with clients like OwnYourGram or OwnYourCheckin have intercompatibility with Syndication Links and those URLs will be sucked in automatically.

If you find issues like this, please file them in the github issues repositories for the appropriate plugin so that the issues are known and can potentially be fixed. (Naturally if you can code well enough, you may be able to patch them with a pull request too.)

@Bradamante in re: life http://etherpad.indiewebcamp.com/indieweb-life with regard to Twitter from this afternoon

I keep a primary site at www.boffosocko.com for longform and usually more substantive (whatever this means...) content while I use the Known platform through www.stream.boffosocko.com for shorter form content, checkins, status updates (Twitter), etc. Keeping my Twitter content is easier here because I don't expect any/many to subscribe to my stream site, so I'm not worried about spamming the world that may want to follow the more substantive stuff. I've tried to make using twitter with my stream as easy as possible by using a simple bookmarklet on desktop () and a simple sharing tool on mobile (http://indiewebcamp.com/Posting_from_mobile_devices)

One day, perhaps when I've over-configured my WordPress install to do things exactly the way I want them, perhaps I'll post it all to one site, but for now, it seems to work pretty well for me without being onerous for my (percieved) audience (hi mom!) :)

Fortunately there's a million ways to do all of this, you just have to find what works best for you.

Hugo, I'd written up some details specifically for Known a while back: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2016/sharing-from-the-indieweb-on-mobile-android-with-apps-and there's a roughly equivalent set at the camp: http://indiewebcamp.com/Posting_from_mobile_devices

@JenLucPiquant It’s well known that Newton was an avid user of Thomas Shelton’s shorthand writing system as were other men of letters at the time. I highly suspect that his efforts at a new language stemmed from this influence as well as the growing trends in not only classifying things (Linnaeus quickly followed Newton’s time period), but the growing popularity at the time of philology (the Brothers Grimm also immediately followed this time period).

Many of these shorthand systems were built upon the ars memorativa tradition dating back to ancient Greece. Though both shorthand and ars memorativa are out of fashion now, I’ve discovered a direct link between the two which dates directly to Gregg Shorthand in the 1880's and has strong ties dating back to the 1400's, if not earlier. Those interested in the connection between these as a sketch of the stenography of Newton and others are encouraged to read The Mnemonic Major System and Gregg Shorthand Have the Same Underlying Structure [http://boffosocko.com/2014/07/05/the-mnemonic-major-system-and-gregg-shorthand-have-the-same-underlying-structure/].

Chrome browser can't find my location · Issue · idno/Known

## While trying to do this:
Create a new "location" post in Chrome (desktop or on Android mobile)

## I encountered this error:
I get a continually recurring "Hang tight ... searching for your location."

## Some other notes:
Alternate browsers on both mobile and desktop both seem to work without any problem. On both mobile and desktop version of Chrome, I've tried toggling every location related switch, clear caches, memory, etc. that I can think of. Nothing seems to work and I don't even get the popup asking me if I'll allow the browser access to my location.

It's been going on for a while, and potentially since I upgraded to 0.9.2, though I'm not sure that this may have been the cause. Has anyone else had this problem with the Chrome browser on desktop/mobile/both? Thoughts?
