Someone (@CSMoskell ?) at the @Hypothes_is conference on social annotation earlier today suggested using well annotated public web pages as examples could be helpful for adoption.

Here's an excellent project to use: https://framework.thoughtvectors.net/about/

I'm so glad @Hypothes_is is recording the sessions of . So much valuable material about and pedagogy to absorb. This will need a few rounds of notes.

@natecull@mastodon.social I think you're correct in your optimism. The hiding issue is the massive acceleration of the dividing effect of algorithmic feeds that tend to radicalize people in the middle to the extremes. This is primarily courtesy of and not necessarily human nature. Prior generations' media tended toward the center, now it pushes us to the extremes.

@edheil Which of the various methods (manually, plugin(s), other) are you using? On fragility front, I'm not too worried as it is open source and has folks helping. It's also only a bridge as I can reply directly to your site.

The acquisition of GitHub reminds me about how versatile it can be for a variety of use cases. I hope Microsoft continues iterating on it to expand its usability to reach an even larger audience.

@spigot I've sent you a few webmentions directly from my site. Be sure to check that they're not getting caught in your spam filter. See also: https://indieweb.org/WordPress_with_Bridgy#Spam

They usually keep track of the total minutes of clapping, but is anyone keeping track of how long 45 is clapping for himself?

Replied to a post on github.com :

Within the past month [it's guestimated that over 1 million webmentions](https://snarfed.org/1-million-webmentions) have been sent on the internet. There's not really solid research on how many sites physically send and/or receive them, but as of [last June](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkc5afFohmI&t=2s) the conservative number was in the range of about 5,000 and the number is increasing rapidly, particularly with platforms like micro.blog (5-10,000 accounts) now supporting them out of the box and CMSs like Drupal (via plugin) and Perch having added them since then. This also doesn't take into account an anecdotally sharp uptick of adoption on WordPress via plugin, most notably by several WordPress core developers.

Mastodon already supports most microformats for webmention to be implemented more easily. https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/122 and https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/965

There are already a number of open source tools that might also be bootstrapped for something like this as well: https://indieweb.org/Webmention#Services

@katy_boss Publishers who want LOC are required to submit physical copies to the Library of Congress. This certainly cover all, but it covers a large proportion, particularly the professionally published books.

@machawk1 @LinkArchiver I post all of my content to my *own* site first and then syndicate it to Twitter secondarily. All of my primary website posts are additionally backed up via API to @InternetArchive in addition to @LinkArchiver and personal back ups (local and cloud) of my site and occasional downloads of my exported Twitter Archive.
