The acquisition of GitHub reminds me about how versatile it can be for a variety of use cases. I hope Microsoft continues iterating on it to expand its usability to reach an even larger audience.

RSVP invited · Issue #156 · pfefferle/wordpress-semantic-linkbacks https:/
When Brid.gy sends webmentions for people invited via a Facebook POSSE copy, the webmentions for these people don't show up properly in comments because `semantic_linkbacks_type` is set to "invite" instead of "rsvp:invited".
Manually effecting the change in the database provides the expected display. See: http:/

YouTube URL embeds not working · Issue #1 · dshanske/twentysixteen-indieweb https:/
In archive views (/kind/post_kind/) and individual pages, typical raw YouTube URLs in pages that previously converted them into embeds via WordPress now just display them as text (non-clickable) URLs.
This may also extend to other types of WordPress embeds as well.

This will help the admin UI dashboard look a bit better.
Can I suggest using something like this?

I've finally gotten around to installing the update for the Twitter plugin for @WithKnown to support the longer 280 character limit. With any luck this will serve as a positive test that everything is working properly.
Have you updated yet?

UI/UX: Publish default to Don't Forward unless PressForward functionality · Issue #936 · PressForward/pressforward https:/
## What happened
With PressForward installed/activated, the Site Options setting for "Seconds to redirect user to source. (0 means no redirect)" set to 1 or greater, and creating a new post (by almost any means including manually, API, micropub, and I suspect sources like the forthcoming Gutenberg interface) the drop down menu item in the Publish meta box to "Forward/Don't Forward" to item's original URL automatically defaults to "Forward".
## What I Expected
I would expect the Forward/Don't Forward setting to default to Forward _only_ when an item is created via the bookmarklet, through items entering the process via the RSS feeds, or from other PressForward specific functionality. All other posts should default to Don't Forward unless manually switched in the Meta box.
For posts created either manually or other automatic means from other sources (API, micropub, etc.) they default to Forward meaning that their URLs never resolve to view the page as they continually forward back to themselves in a never ending loop.
## Additional notes
With the Seconds to redirect set to 0, all new posts seem to be set to the default "Don't Forward" as one would expect.
Last update turned off checkins in Post Kinds metabox · Issue #34 · dshanske/simple-location https:/
It may have been something else, though I haven't changed anything else substantively recently...
When I updated simple locations with the new release, I think it disabled the visibility for checkins with Post Kinds Plugin. IIRC, there was a check that one did to see if the other was installed and enabled them. Perhaps changes in Post Kinds and Simple Location haven't kept abreast with each other as I believe the on/off in the Post Kinds plugin also moved a version or two back as well.
I want to say that I'd been manually changing the code for a while to show checkins within the metabox, though perhaps after the refactoring of Post Kinds a few months back, perhaps I hadn't and so it was updating Simple Location that turned it off yesterday. I can't be 100% sure, and the number of people using the two in tandem is surely small, so I thought I'd mention it.
In the meanwhile, (as a reminder to myself) I've manually hard coded checkins back on.

Mobile UI suggestion: Chat bubble or menu option to create post from home screen · Issue #24 · microdotblog/issues https:/
The Timeline, Mentions, and Favorites all have a "chat" icon in the upper right to allow one to create a status update. Why not also include this on the main homescreen (or a "Create Post" button just above Timeline) so there's one less step to posting? It also makes it easier for new users to figure out how to post.
